Sukkot – סכות

September 21, 2021
Leviticus 22:26-23:44

Chag Sukkot Sameach! Happy Sukkot Holiday!

Our portion is “סכות/Sukkot” which means “Tabernacles.” It was delivered on September 21, 2021, and is out of Leviticus 22:26-23:44. Pastor Richard focuses his teaching on 23:1-2 which read, “And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying, ‘Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, and say to them, “The appointed times of יהוה, which you are to proclaim as set-apart gatherings, My appointed times, are these:”‘” and 23:34-36 which read, “Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘On the fifteenth day of this seventh new moon is the Festival of Sukkot for seven days to יהוה. On the first day is a set-apart gathering, you do no servile work. For seven days you bring an offering made by fire to יהוה. On the eighth day there shall be a set-apart gathering for you, and you shall bring an offering made by fire to יהוה. It is a closing festival, you do no servile work.'”

Ro’eh Richard begins the teaching today explaining to whom the authority was given to proclaim the feasts. He continues with an explanation of the text which commands the 4 species, along with how the Jews understand those species to be the specific types used in the Jewish faith and how they connect to man. Lastly, Ro’eh Richard discusses who is commanded to live in sukkah for the holiday, and how the gentiles are to provoke the Jewish people to zealousness in this holiday. Of course, throughout the teaching, Ro’eh shows how the holiday points to Messiah Yeshua.
