Shemini – שמיני
March 26, 2022
Leviticus 9:1-11:47; 2 Samuel 6:1-7:17; Mark 7:1-23
Torah Portion “שמיני/Shemini” which means “Eighth,” and begins, “And on the eighth day it came to be that Mosheh called Aharon and his sons and the elders of Yisra’ĕl.”
Does God care what we eat? Why the dietary laws? Is eating “kosher” a salvation issue? We are living tabernacles and must guard ourselves to remain tamai (clean). The teachings of Messiah Yeshua are in congruence with the Torah when we understand the meaning of “food” and apply them in that context. Non-Kosher “food” stops up a person’s heart and soul, and when a person eats that which God has said is not food, he swallows an unclean spirit which then defiles his soul. All three of the portions of scripture today come together nicely to support the message from or Master, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
This week’s Torah portion is called Shemini and it means The Eighth. It also points to the eight thousandth year of creation. Pastor Richard gives an understanding of Pride and Arrogance because this lesson is about the lack of pride and the arrogance of man.
This week our Haftorah teaching is delivered by Ro’eh Richard from 2 Samuel 6:1-7:17, and the New Covenant E-drash is delivered by Brother Mark from Mark 7:1-23.
The video above contains the entirety of our service day, beginning with our Blessings and Worship portions.
