February 26, 2022
Exodus 35:1-38:20; 1 Kings 7:13-26; Matthew 12:1-13

Torah Portion “Vayachel (ויקהל)” which means “And he assembled” and begins “And Mosheh assembled all the congregation of the children of Yisra’ĕl, and said to them, ‘These are the Words which יהוה has commanded you to do:'”

This Parasha follows the Golden Calf incident and covers the calling of the Israelites to help with building the Tabernacle. Mixed worship causes confusion. God is forgiving them and continuing with His Plan. (God has been renewing His Covenant since the fall of Adam. Bezalel means “In the Image of Hashem.” To mimic His Will is to be in the image of God. This young man received the blueprints from Moshe and contemplated them prior to beginning the work due to the great responsibility given to him by the Redeemer of Israel. He was able to accomplish his work according to the vision he was accountable for. One of the key character traits needed was to see himself as worthy of the task. He also honored the other workers in their tasks. We must see ourselves as worthy and elevate each other.

This week our Haftorah teaching is delivered by Pastor Richard from 1 Kings 18:1-39, and the New Covenant E-drash is delivered by Brother Mark from Matthew 12:1-13.
