Vayishlach – וישלח
November 20, 2021
Genesis 32:3-36:43; Obadiah 1:1-21; 1 Corinthians 5:1-13
Torah Portion “וישלח/Vayishlach” which means “And he sent” and which begins, “And Ya‛aqoḇ sent messengers before him to Ěsaw his brother in the land of Sĕ‛ir, the field of Eḏom”
This week’s Torah portion deals with us directly today. We are in the same battle as Esau and Jacob. Spiritually, we are returning to Israel. Pastor Richard teaches that Esau was a servant of the Torah because Esau knew it, but that Torah just wasn’t the way that he wanted to live.
Esau represents the world and when he goes to meet Jacob it wasn’t out of love. Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed. Pastor Richard teaches that Jacob knew he could never rule over Esau by force, but rather by virtue of moral superiority.
Great teaching, may you be blessed. Shalom.
This week our Haftorah teaching is delivered by Ro’ah Alpha from Hosea 11:7-12:11 and the New Covenant teaching is delivered by Brother Mark from 1 Corinthians 5:1-13.
The video above contains the entirety of our service day, beginning with our Blessings and Worship portions.
