Lech Lecha – לך־לך
October 16, 2021
Genesis 12:1-17:27; Isaiah 40:27-41:16; Romans 3:19-5:6
Torah Portion “לך־לך/Lech Lecha” which means “Go For Yourself” and begins, “And יהוה said to Abram, Go yourself out of your land, from your relative and from your father’s house, to a land which I show you..”
In this week’s Torah portion, Pastor Richard teaches about Abraham and shows that he is in the lineage of King David. Abraham crossed over as a convert into the Jewish faith.
Abraham left behind all that he knew: his birth place, his idols, his way of life. He embraced the Jewish faith and detached from who he used to be. He crossed over. HaShem says that He spoke to Abraham and Abraham answered Him back. Abraham learned the culture that he was taught and did not look back or return to the past.
Pastor Richard shows that gentiles coming to faith have a problem submitting to the Jewish faith, which began with Abraham because he submitted to it. HaShem says for His people to submit to the master He sets over them. Abraham did what was right in HaShem’s eyes.
May this teaching bring you shalom.
This week our Haftorah teaching is delivered by Brother Mark from Isaiah 40:27-41:16 and the New Covenant teaching is delivered by Ro’ah Alpha from Romans 3:19-5:6.
